Blog Introduction

Welcome to my blog! My name is Alec Edwards and I am from Philadelphia, PA, but I have been here in Phoenix, Arizona about 10 years now. I am currently a trainer at the corporate office for Best Western International. A few interests of mine include sports, cooking, watching good movies of any genre as well as television shows. I am pretty busy most of the time, but when I do have free time I like to travel, shoot pool, and watch football. A couple of things that I am passionate about include bettering myself, fantasy football, and of course, The Philadelphia Eagles. My immediate goal is to earn my Associates Degree in General Business Management and to maintain a high enough GPA to be able to earn a scholarship to a university. My ultimate goal is to one day own an establishment that I can call mine and to be an employer; not an employee. That is a little bit about myself and I look forward to getting to know my fellow classmates, as well as excelling in the class.

Entry#1: The World Of Blogging

Blogging is a very popular way of spreading information. It also allows people with many points of view to express their respected opinions on various subjects. I enjoy reading blogs on subjects that are opinion oriented, but also in areas of my own interest. I think blogs are very useful in this day and age of technology, but one can't be limited to the information posted onto blogs alone.

As a fan of the popular TV series "The Walking Dead" I found this blog pretty interesting. The factors they researched including major cities that export the most imperishable foods, weapons, and ammunition; as well as having the most capable means of finding a cure and containing the infection. What I didn't like about this article though, was when the author stated "And it’s a little known fact that during a zombie apocalypse, more people die of starvation than of the infection itself." How is that a fact? I didn't understand how projected deaths of a hypothetical situation is a "little known fact", but Overall I did enjoy this article.

What I enjoyed about this article was that it was short, but at the same time pretty informative. It also included the link where you can purchase a bundle package of different methods of coding you can learn. I found this interesting because one of my co-workers taught himself how to code and ended up getting a promotion (including a raise) recently. I wasn't looking into it too much then, but after reading this article and doing a little more research on the subject I might consider doing something similar.

I didn't enjoy this article very much. If sex and running really help generate brain cells that is definitely new information for me, but the comments are, in my opinion, more entertaining than the article itself. I had a hard time watching the video. Maybe because football was on while I was watching it and that tends to dominate my concentration.

Entry#2: Any Given Sunday

This NFL season has been anything but predictable. One of the worst divisions in football last year in the NFC South is definitely reclaiming their status as one of the top in the league. With the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers both already having six wins under their belts, it will be interesting to see who comes on top of that division.

Speaking of wins - the New England Patriots are undefeated at 7-0 and show no signs of slowing down. After all the controversy of "Deflategate", Tom Brady is showing the world why he is the best quarterback in football - whether they're deflated or not.

The team the Patriots eliminated to advance to the Superbowl last year in the Indianapolis Colts have been absolutely dreadful to watch. A team that had legitimate Superbowl aspirations, are fighting to keep their heads above water at this point in the season. As a fantasy football owner of their quarterback, Andrew Luck, it has been disappointing to say the least.

The NFC East has been a prime example of mediocrity thus far. With the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles having such high expectations are trying to make the best out of bad situations. The Cowboys have been hobbled by injuries and the backups haven't been able to maximize their recent increase in playing time. The Eagles however, show signs of promise, but it seems the new acquisitions to the roster are going through some growing pains. Now, the New York Giants are sitting atop of the division with the Eagles slated to play the Cowboys next Sunday night. Being an Eagles fan, my biased opinion is that they will handily add onto the Cowboys' current losing streak.
